Template with video background

Postby SteveElkington » 04 Apr 2014, 23:52

Hi All

I've been making test templates with a video behind live text based around the video tutorial on the website.... a series of PNG's imported into Flash.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=p ... n4IfcDkIhU

I've managed to crash Flash more than a few times this way (using too many frames for the animation), and I seem to think someone recommended a different way is now suggested. I can't find that post now.
Can anyone enlighten me, whats the currently recommended way to make a template such as a lower third, with live input text and a video background?

We should do another tutorial for some time now, I know. Meanwhile you can try, if you find your way trought this: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13685023/Schwing_Bauchbinde.zip. Its a template, that I did for a sports event last summer.

The name of the video file "06_ISV_Bauchbinde_alpha" is hardcoded in the script and the file is missing from the download, because it is 5 MB. It is a Quicktime encoded with the animation codec with alpha channel. There are four variables f0, f1, channel and preview. The first two set the textfields. The other two add a little flexibility. The client controlling the event had a "Preview" button, that let it run on another channel, so with "channel" you tell the video, on what channel to tun and "preview" is for stoping the template differently for the preview (no out animation).

Looks very interesting, thanks!
It's going to take me a while to figure that one out I think, but well worth me doing I reckon.
Thank you!

Hello
I've had a look at this, and think I understand a fair bit of whats going on.... just about! It might be different as I put it into practice myself!
I've tried using one of the test videos in Caspar to prove I had set things up ok, but I've found that it overlays the text in a very odd way.... with black boxes where the variable text fields are... see image:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/6q57nz8gbwwn5ce/Capture.JPG

I've set channel as 1 and preview as 0

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks
Steve

I can't see your graphics. But maybe you have to set a "dummy fiter" to your text fields. E.g. A blur with value 0....

You did everything ok, but on your system you need to either disable font smoothing and Aero theme or, if that does not help, add a blur of zero to the textfields. On my system it works without the blur, so I did not add one.

And by the way, I edited your post to make the graphic visible.

Thank you, turning off font smoothing did it!
Really nice way to have a nice video background, I've just made a video strap.... needs a few tweaks but is really quick!
Thanks Didi!
Oh and thanks for fixing my image link!

Hello. I have downloaded files here https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/136 ... hbinde.zip,
have changed the name of video file in code, created flash template and tried to perform it in GasparCG but it doesn't play video. What shall I do to manage the mistake?

I may be, you must first download a video file?
mysocket.writeln("LOADBG " + channel + "-" + videoLayer + " Name_Of_Video_File");
