New TemplateGenerator for Flash CC

Postby Andreas » 20 Jan 2014, 15:48

I think I have succeeded in creating a CasparCG TemplateGenerator for Flash Professional CC.

Change log:
  • Converted all const to var since it somehow throws an error.
  • Changed color theme (some bugs here, but nothing serious)

Installation:
1. Remove previous versions
2. Install from within Flash Professional CC (Help -> Manage extensions)
3. Restart Flash Professional CC
4. The panel should be found under Window -> Extensions -> TemplateGenerator

Bug reports:
This version is tested on Windows 7 and OS X Mavericks. Please report any bugs in this thread!

OK, found first bug! :)

It seems that it cannot save any servers, will have a look on that.

Thanks for this. It worked perfectly in CS6. Not tried the option to automatically copy to the server yet but if this works as well then this will be incredibly useful and save a lot of time!

Thank you very much for this plugin!

I got a question, I haven't used the save to server option of the plugin before and when I go to the Settings tab of it, it always shows an "X" on the Templates path no matter what I type in. I've put in the IP of the caspar system (which is separate from the one I use to make the templates) and it's showing me a Check.

The templates should go here on the caspar pc : C:\Caspar Server 2.0.6\Server\templates.

What should I write for the path?

Thank you!

Can you see your templates on your remote computer using Windows Explorer? If yes, simply copy paste this path to the plugin.

Don't kow if it's the plugin or if it's unsupported in flash. But when I make a tween of a text field, it's put in a graphic object, which is animated. The text field is still dynamic and has f1 instance name. But I can't update that text from caspar.

Is it I who is doing something wrong, or does anyone else have the same problem?

Hello everyone, I'm a flash-developer (yes, we still exist) implementing CasparCG (client and templates) for a client.
I just noticed that, althought there's a lot of info online, it's all about the 1.8 templatebuilder. Is there a page somewhere with all the changes to brew2.0? I've started reading through the JSFL but a summary would be awesome.
thx, grtz, Cors

You're right, it does run fine. But reading brew2_0.jsfl it seems that the customParameterDescription (for instance) has changed from
Code: Select all
private const customParameterDescription:XML =
to
Code: Select all
[Parameter(name="paramName", type="String", info="ParamInfo")]
So I wondered if there was a complete summary of changes somehwere.

Re: New TemplateGenerator for Flash CC

Postby jcuthbertson » 15 Jun 2015, 11:47

Good day,

I am trying to learn more about the use Template Generator. Currently I am using Flash Pro CC, I have installed the extension, I have closed and reopened Flash and I can not find the actual extension??? I have looked under the menu window with no luck, also I have noticed when I go "new", Templates, there are no casparcg templates. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. When I look at extension manager, it says its loaded + enabled. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall as well.

Any help would be great.

There are no template-templates in Flash, so you will not find anything in the file new dialog. The TemplateGenerator panel is here (german version of Flash but menu-position is identical):

I just had the same problem. See here: http://blogs.adobe.com/kevinmonahan/2014/01/29/revert-to-a-previous-version-of-premiere-pro-cc-or-any-creative-cloud-application/ for a guide to revert back to CC 2014. You will need to reinstall the template manager add-in in Extension Manager, after downgrading, to get it back.

I'll investigate in a week or two.

For now, you can re-install Flash CC2014 and run both simultaneous.

I locked into it real quick. We should be able to put our plug-in to Adobe Exchange, something similar to Apple's App Store. Is SVT willing to do this? Would it hurt any GPL terms? :)

AFAIK not. But there is an option in CC to install older versions. You need to Google it, to know how.

Postby StYes » 27 Oct 2015, 22:50

Hi everyone.
I am new to this so please excuse if I am asking silly questions
but I did not find the answers anywhere in the forum:

1. Do I have to use Flash CC to be able to use the Template generator?
2. I don't have it. Will it work with CS6, which I have?
3. If not, is there a version that would work with CS6?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Yes there is a version for CS6, search in the forum for an older link or get from sourceforge:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/casparc ... Generator/

Older versions should be there (I haven't looked to be honest).

Thanks...
I found an older version for CS4 and up, in the downloads. I installed it and its working fine. There was an issue with my Adobe CS version - since it is not a US language version. The FT Generator installs by default into the US english directory and therefore it was not showing up in Flash. I found a cure for that in the forum - I had to copy all the Generator files to my Adobe CS Language directory and that was it. Now it works great.
Thank you very much for your help.

Template Generator - Flash CC 2015 installation problem

Postby StYes » 04 Dec 2015, 19:04

I just got the CC 2015 package and after installing Flash I tried to install the Template generator but I get an error saying: "The extension cannot be installed. You need Flash v 11 or later... ???
Is the Template generator incompatible with the newest Flash version or what is the problem? Thanks.

The funny thing is, that I downgraded my Flash to 2014 and installed the Template Generator. Some days ago I found out, that it runs also in 2015. I installed it in parallel, it’s easy, with the CC download utility to install older versions. They are listed under something like “older versions”. There was a discussion in the Forum, that the installer for the Template Generator is not compatible with the 2015 version. So probably this is the way to do it for now.

You have to install Flash CC 2014 and then it works fine (see picture). I hope Caspar CG will update the Template Generator because it's getting old now and it's not compatible with the new Flash/Animate versions.

How?

1. Did you have CC2014;
2. Then as everyone suggested installed CC2015;
3. Started it and made sure template generator worked also under CC2015;
4. Uninstalled CC2014;
5. Installed Animate CC2015;
6. Run it and verify template generator still works?;

Is this your case? Because i was really wondering to upgrade to Animate;

Hey Jay,

what version are you using? Asking this because i've heard from a lot of people that version 2015.2 doesn't work at all. I am using 2015.1 and it works like a charm.

If that's the case uninstall and then install the previous version. You should be able to retrieve the link from adobe cloud.

No - still the same issues with 2015.1 & 2014

A JavaScript error occurred.
At line 1080 of file "brew2_2.jsfl":
Error: exportSWF: Argument number 1 is invalid.

I'm going to try CS6 and see if that helps. Probably not, but worth a test.

Do you have any other ideas?

I've just gone through this hustle on a new machine.

As it stands, I'm going to have to stick with CC 2015.1 as further versions break when I update/install them. 2015.1 works fine. This means i cannot use 2015.2 any chance the author of the plugin wants to touch it? It's broken and needs updating.

it seems i found THE very easy solution for installing the template generator. Anastasiy’s Extension Manager
i was setting up a new system, had the same problems to install the template generator as always, no matter flash 14 or 15.
after googeling around i found this:
Anastasiy’s Extension Manager
its a external extension manager(mac AND Windows). after installing 5 seconds later the template generator was installed in 14 and 15 without any adobe extension manager things.
i hope its not installing some Putin/Trump spyware :-)

tell me if it works for you also
