Audio Troubleshooting

Is there a way to troubleshoot where this constant audio issue is coming from? I've tried everything I can manage, from testing file formats, to changing out eqipment, windows settings, etc.

I can't figure out why a powerful machine like the one I'm using is having such terrible issues with audio playback. Not only that, when I try the same tests, on other machines, it happens there too. These are not lightweight, CPU and process monitoring shows reasonable utilization but performance is problematic.

This has to work in some configuration, right? what configuration is that? Is there a checklist or anyone with enough experience to give a hand here?

I've tried:

Driver versions,
New hardware,
audio only
performance settings (aero etc)

Is everyone else just working by luck?

Issues can arise in many places, and finding the issue sometimes requires intricate knowledge of the systems. It can be frustrating if nothing seems to work.

There is a number of known issues in the community, but without knowledge of your specific system and use case it's hard to give a helping hand. A few things that immediately come to mind:
  • how is your PCIe bus usage, are you certain you have enough lanes?
  • then, how is the encoding of the files? is this something you notice when you play the standard CasparCG clips like "cg1080i50", or "go1080p25"?
  • lastly, what producer are you using for audio playback? Decklink cards, bluefish, system audio? and what specific device? some decklink drivers are known to have stuttering audio.
There are so many machines running Caspar around the world, I'm sure we'll be able to help you get going.

edit: I see now there is already a thread for your specific issue, so let's keep the specifics in a single thread. regard my answer as a simple: "no, there is no checklist since all systems differ"

how should I gauge this? The issue happens when only using a screen consumer and even only when using system audio.

I have tried to play audio from mp3 files, from video files all cause the issue, including those included with caspar

ANY and ALL i'm sure I haven't tried all, but i've tried BMD embedded and using system audio with all audio types i could play even mp3 files.
