No audio with internal keying on DeckLink 4K extreme 6G

Postby MrPatol » 10 Aug 2015, 12:42

Hello,
after having set up Internal Keying (this post) I realized that when PC starts up, by default, BlackMagick card does not pass SDI embedded audio on output SDI. I need to open BM Media Express to activate audio pass trough.

I have <embedded-audio>true</embedded-audio> in the config.
I've tryed to add <channel-layout>stereo</channel-layout> but does not help.

Is there another config to activate audio passtrough ?

This is my config
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?>
<configuration>
  <paths>
    <media-path>C:\MESO\CasparCG-Server-2.0.7\media\</media-path>
    <log-path>C:\MESO\CasparCG-Server-2.0.7\log\</log-path>
    <data-path>C:\MESO\CasparCG-Server-2.0.7\data\</data-path>
    <template-path>C:\MESO\CasparCG-Server-2.0.7\templates\</template-path>
  </paths>
  <log-level>debug</log-level>
  <channel-grid>false</channel-grid>
  <blend-modes>false</blend-modes>
  <auto-deinterlace>false</auto-deinterlace>
  <auto-transcode>false</auto-transcode>
  <flash>
    <buffer-depth>auto</buffer-depth>
  </flash>
  <channels>

    <channel>
      <video-mode>1080i5000</video-mode>
      <channel-layout>stereo</channel-layout>
      <consumers>
        <decklink>
          <device>1</device>
          <channel-layout>stereo</channel-layout>
          <embedded-audio>true</embedded-audio>
          <latency>low</latency>
          <keyer>internal</keyer>
          <key-only>false</key-only>
          <buffer-depth>3</buffer-depth>
        </decklink>

      </consumers>
    </channel>
  </channels>
  <controllers>
    <tcp>
      <port>5250</port>
      <protocol>AMCP</protocol>
    </tcp>
  </controllers>
</configuration>

Have you tried, what happens, when you set embedded-audio to false?

With <embedded-audio>false</embedded-audio> does not pass trough at all, even with the workaround of launching BM Media Express.

Ok, good to know. And without the embedded-audio, what does it do then?

without the tag it takes the default which is "false" and does not passes the audio.

Problem seems only the first init, when the machine has just started. Afther it has opened once the card behaves good. But I did not wanted to enable the audio by hand at each machine new start.

You may have to set something in the Decklink controlpanel.

I would check if there is an option to enable audio passthrou.
If you use the card for external keying, ccg only sends the overlay to the card, so audio is not in ccgs responsibilities but in the cards one.

You a guess.

cheers

I don't think that there is such a setting. The problem is probably, that the card outputs only Caspar's own audio and does not mix by default. SVT does not use internal keying very much, I guess, so that was no problem. Please post a bug/feature request on GitHub. Link in my signature.

I confirm, on Decklink Desktop Video Utility there is no much Audio options, just the switch between: Embedded, AES/EBU and XLR.
I think that audio passtrough is enabled programmatically (is the workaround lauching once BM Media Express).

Have to try if with MIXER VOLUME or MIXER LEVELS helps.

I've posted the issue on GitHub, Thank You for all hints

I've had some audio problems with new BM cards, but I've been able to resolve them by using earlier firmware. Maybe You should try one of the latest 9.x.

I just did a test with drivers 10.8.3 and it seemed to work well in 1080i5000.

I appreciate if anyone else can do a second test and confirm this. This is great news!!
